The Peony is such a beautiful flower that's out for just a brief moment each year. the piece is inspired by Mozart's Requiem in D Minor, his last work. It speaks of beauty and seeming fragility, but also of enduring strength. About the artwork Beonies, or Lux Aeterna: The peony is named after Paeon (also spelled Paean), a student of Asclepius, the Greek god of medicine and healing. Asclepius became jealous of his pupil; Zeus saved Paeon from the wrath of Asclepius by turning him into the peony flower. - Nikki
